This intensive three-day programme provides a structured introduction to managing water damage in buildings, with a strong emphasis on the principles that underpin effective drying and recovery.

A central focus of the course is psychrometry, the science that governs moisture behaviour in air and materials. These fundamentals are critical to designing drying strategies that are effective, proportionate, and safe. The course builds core competence in moisture dynamics, selection and use of drying equipment, water categories, health and safety considerations, extraction methods, and the practical controls required during remediation activities. Learning is delivered through expert-led teaching supported by discussion, practical explanation, and visual material.
Participants have the option to sit an internationally recognised professional examination on completion, demonstrating their understanding of water damage mechanisms, building drying principles, and contamination risks associated with water ingress. Successful candidates show they have the technical foundation needed to plan and carry out drying works, manage sewer or contaminated water incidents, and understand how water damage can lead to secondary biological hazards such as mould.

The course is suitable for professionals working across the built environment, including surveyors, contractors, consultants, facilities managers, and those responsible for planning or overseeing remedial works and provides a solid technical base for more advanced training in microbial (mould) remediation. IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT)

This four-day, in-person programme provides advanced training in the assessment and remediation of microbiological contamination within the built environment. It is designed for professionals who already have experience managing moisture or water damage and are looking to expand their competence into mould, sewage, and other biological hazards. To sit the AMRT exam, a delegate must already have passed the WRT exam.

The course develops both theoretical understanding and practical capability through a combination of expert-led instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. Teaching is grounded in realistic building scenarios and focuses on how biological contamination develops, how it interacts with moisture and materials, and how it should be safely and effectively controlled. Key areas include environmental microbiology, moisture behaviour in buildings, remediation planning, containment and cross-contamination control, appropriate use and limitations of antimicrobial agents, and the regulatory and health and safety frameworks that govern biological remediation work.

Participants may choose to sit an optional professional examination at the end of the course, leading to an internationally recognised certification issued by IICRC. This assessment confirms that the candidate has the technical knowledge required to plan and oversee microbial remediation works, including mould- and sewage-affected environments. Eligibility for certification requires prior successful completion of recognised water damage training, reflecting the close relationship between moisture control and biological risk management.
